Watercolor a day sept - november

Okay I must admit that is has been difficult to paint one of these each day. Some seem very reduntant/similar to other paintings I've done - and some are just too intricate and detailed. You have my total admiration if you have painted each day of this calendar!

WAD Sept 10 - 14

This weeks paintings were three good, two bad. Okay, not bad but just not for me to try. One was way too detailed to paint in a 3" space. The second one was a nude - I have nothing against nudes except it's a lot of skin tone which I do BADLY at mixing!

Sept 11 - another Van Gogh inspired drawing/painting. The secret is to let each painted section to dry before painting a section that is next to it.

Sept 13 - easy simple abstract. My kind of painting!

Sept 14 - hmmm, not sure I like it or not. My poor teapot looks off, crooked - something LOL.

Watercolor a Day Sept 3 - 7 I skipped the 7th LOL

Sept 3 - This painting looks so much better on the computer than in person. I wonder if it's like when you varnish a piece, all the colors look better. I struggled with the beach and the duck and the duck's reflection. At least you can tell it's a duck! LOL

Sept 4 - Simple landscape, basically watery base colors and then outlined. Maybe one of you can answer this question??? Why when I do fine linework with watercolors I always get a blob that flows onto the paper. I never had that problem with doing linework with watery acrylics? Is it the binders? the paint itself?

Sept 5 - I like this painting but again I struggled with getting the shading I liked on the tree trunks. It looks better on the computer than in person. Ahhh the magic of the tiny picture on the screen.

Sept 6 - This is a fun abstract painting. I love the green and purples together!

Watercolor a Day Aug 20 - 31

  • Mood:

I skipped a few this week and also went ahead into next week. The kids are going back to school next week and I wanted to have my week free to goof off and celebrate that my house will stay clean for at least a few hours each day!

Aug 20 - This was a simple design and I still managed to mess it up. The poor boaters bottom is a bit washed out.

Aug 22 - I like this painting. The colors blended pretty well and I didn't have any mixing-of-other colors.

Aug 23 - I like the sky. My poor white-capped waves are missing and I ruin the mountain LOL oh well!

Aug 27 - me no likey.

Aug 28 - This guy needs a tan.

Aug 29 - another no likey.

Aug 30 - This looks so much better on my computer than in person.

Aug 31 - I like painting these Egyptian interpretations. It looks good!

Watercolor A Day Week Aug 13-17

Aug 13 - hmmm not sure about the Chinese guy. Not what I usually paint at all LOL!

Aug 14 - a little too "coloring book" for my taste

Aug 15 - the layer of colors was very difficult on this thin paper.

Aug 16 - bugs, easy!

Aug 17 - my watercolor sunflowers leave a lot to be desired - such as my acrylic sunflowers <grin>

Watercolors this week Aug 6 - 10

Aug 6 - I feel like I'm getting a tiny bit better at painting trees.

Aug 7 - this painting was wild and very difficult to copy. I like abstract, but this feels more messy than artsy! LOL

Aug 8 - I wonder if this is an artist interpretation of a fire hydrant? Hydrants here in Utah are red or yellow. Do you have a gray hydrant in your neighborhood? If you do, let me know!

Aug 9 - Okay I cheated on this painting and did my own thing!

Aug 10 - This is a cave painting reproduction. Herding cattle. It was nice to end the week with an easy painting.

Watercolor A Day July 30 - Aug 3

July 30 - fun ducks and easy to do.

July 31 - I like the sky very much.

Aug 1 - I was bummed that the pear turned out so light/washy compared to the rest of the painting.

Aug 2 - I'm pleased with this one!

Aug - This painting turned out good too - maybe the middle planter pot was too bright! Oh well, live and learn - I mean paint and learn!

WAD July 23, 25, and 27

July 23 - cave paintings. Again this week I decided to only paint the days that I likes or were attracted to. I could paint the other one, but the intense details frustrate me and then I don't want to paint at all. This is supposed to be fun!!!

July 25 - abstract, the colors seem off.

July 27 - this was relaxing to paint.

Watercolor A Day July 9, 12, 13, 16, and 17

July 9 - this week I decided that I was only going to paint the designs I really liked (and thought that I could do well with). So you can call it a cheat, but I had a great time and it made me very happy! This little bluebird just stopped by to say "hello". I think I painted his wings too short and his tail too long. Oh well - artistic prerogative!

July12 - here is a fun fiesta! Let's hit the beach and party!

July 13 - I like painting fruit. I had a hard time with the shading on the strawberries. Getting a good color mix for the shading didn't turn out quite as I had hoped. I guess it doesn't make a difference being so small anyways.

July 16 - simple and straightforward. I likey!

July 17 - I'm gonna call this "Jazz Man Steamrolled". He looks and plays a bit "flat"! Okay sorry, bad joke!  LOL LOL LOL
